What is the WPHK?

Established in 2008, the WPHK is a not-for-profit organization run voluntarily for and by wedding professional photographers and industry representatives who seek to set a standard of excellence within the photographic industry.

The WPHK strives to promote and maintain the highest standards of professional competence and business ethics in the industry. The WPHK provides ongoing education via seminars, workshops and events; the WPHK is a brand of trust in the photographic industry.

Who can join the WPHK?

While the main focus is on professional wedding photographers, the WPHK encourages those working in industry related services e.g. equipment suppliers, laboratory technicians, studio managers and educators, to become members and actively participate in WPHK workshops and seminars.

In addition to representing those working full time in the industry, the WPHK also has a genuine commitment to those who are intending to join the profession and to others who have a keen interest in the art and science of wedding photography.

Why should I join the WPHK?

Individually photographers cannot influence or advise governments on matters that affect the industry. However, the WPHK is able to represent industry concerns and negotiate practical outcomes that benefit professional photographers. By joining the WPHK you are demonstrating your commitment to the industry.

The WPHK is the largest organization in Hong Kong representing the interests of professional wedding photographers. It has an ongoing commitment to encourage, promote and maintain the highest standards of competence in both the reproduction of photographic images and in the conduct of photographic business enterprises Becoming a WPHK member is an important step on the road to professionalism. It is a commitment to set the highest standard of performance and customer service in the wedding industry.

The WPHK attempts to inform the public that in an unregulated industry those working under its banner are the industry benchmark and standard bearers. We therefore expect all members to act in the best interests of the WPHK and, through their professionalism, continue to uphold the values of WPHK membership and the WPHK logo as marks of confidence and quality.

WPHK - CODE OF CONDUCT

All members of WPHK are bound by this Code of Professional Conduct.

In the event of a member being found to be in breach of this code, the WPHK Committee has power, in its absolute discretion, to expel or suspend that member from membership, or from any particular grade of membership, or to apply such other lesser sanction as may be appropriate.

The clauses given below indicate the general standard of conduct to which members must adhere when carrying out their professional duties:

  1. A member is abided by this Code of Conduct of WPHK and the regulations and guidelines of WPHK as set down from time to time and shall recognize the full authority of the WPHK Committee in all matters relating to interpretation and enforcement.
  2. A member shall at all times present himself/herself and his/her work and services in such a manner as will uphold and dignify my professional status and the reputation of WPHK.
  3. A member shall exercise all reasonable skill, care and diligence in the discharge of his/her duties, giving full consideration to the requirements of the client.
  4. A member shall at all times and in all respects conduct their professional and business operations within the law.
  5. A member shall ensure that advertisements and other public announcements with which his/her name is associated are not such as would, in the opinion of the WPHK Committee, bring WPHK into disrepute. A member shall ensure that all advertisements or public announcements mentioned comply with the guidelines issued from time to time by WPHK Committee.
  6. A member shall not commit any acts which will discredit the profession, and a member shall refrain from degrading other photographers.
  7. A member shall support the WPHK in the education of the general public in the art and science of professional photography.
  8. A member shall strive at all times to upgrade and improve his/her knowledge and skill in the profession of photography and related areas.
  9. A member shall co-operate fully with any investigations into an alleged breach of this Code and WPHK's regulations and guidelines.

WPHK LOGO – USAGE RULES

The WPHK logo is the official mark of WPHK. The design of the logo may not be altered or reproduced in part. The logo must be used or reproduced exactly and in full. The colors may not be altered.

The following logo may be used by all current members:

If a photographer is no longer a member of WPHK, the logo is no longer available for use and must be removed immediately from any and all marketing and/or promotional material including website.

Without the express written permission WPHK, the WPHK logo must not be displayed by members to:

  1. imply endorsement by WPHK of any product, event, action or idea; or
  2. to make statements or to address any issues on behalf of WPHK.

WPHK reserves the right to change these rules as deemed appropriate.
